Nothing we do in life is done in isolation - our reasons for keeping horses and how we do it has roots back to our earliest experiences and memories.

Perhaps the toughest challenge is untangling the tapestry of motivation and emotion that got us to where we are now - but unless we do change becomes like a ghost whose heel we try to catch, but is always just out of focus, and out of reach. In my case I had to stop keeping horses, with all the sadness and heartbreak that involved, before I was free to start looking at a hill of questions and, hopefully, finding answers.

I believe the single most important thing we can do is to be kind - and to remember that horses don't have problems, except those we create by our own management.
